Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre
Acronym: KTTC

Description: The Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre's mission is to make Ontario a safer place for turtles. Seven of Ontario's eight species of turtle are now listed as "species at risk". Road mortality is one of the most important threats. Most turtles killed crossing roads are nesting females, which is leading to population declines. The KTTC meets this threat by rehabilitating injured turtles and releasing them back into the wild. We also raise awareness of the plight of turtles, and provide simple suggestions for how individuals can get involved in turtle conservation. The Centre is registered charity located in Peterborough, and has been in operation since 2002.
