Association for Canadian Educational Resources, Mississauga. ACER is a not for profit organization, incorporated in 1991, working to make Canadian materials and programs available to learners-especially those dealing with environmental issues. The current focus is measuring change in forest biodiversity programs called Measure UP! Go Global, Let’s Plant! And Our School Yard. ACER CDs and web based “Climate change in context ” and “Solar UV in our world” support these hands-on programs. APPrO is a non-profit organisation of power producers, equipment suppliers, consultants and environmentalists concerned with alternate energy production or non-utility generation (NUG). Technologies include co-generation, small hydro, biomass, energy from waste, wind, solar, and other environmentally-preferable sources. APPrO publishes a magazine (IPPSO FACTO). APPrO runs the annual Canadian Independent Power Conference and Trade Show, intervenes in public hearings, and represents the industry to government, utilities and the public.
